Recent Embassy Downtown Review: "My family and I went to Tampa to visit local attractions and theme parks. It was a short trip and we enjoy staying within walking distance of shopping and dining. The staff was very helpful, then room was enjoyable, and we were only ten miles from Busch Gardens. Being that Busch Gardens is not is the greatest of locations, it was nice to stay somewhere close by. We also enjoyed going to the Channel Side shops and restaurants, as well as, the Florida Aquarium. The Channel Side shops are within walking distance, or you can take the streetcar which runs every fifteen minutes on the hour until 1030 p.m. the hotel is connected to the convention center, so we were worried that it would be more suitable for business professionals. Though it seems that would be the crowd the hotel normally caters to, it was a nice place for our family to stay. Our room had 2 full beds and a sofa bed. It offered plenty of room and the kids really enjoyed the complimentary full service breakfast with made-to-order omlettes. The hotel also offered a complimentary cocktail hour, but my husband and I were not able to make it.
If we were to say the stay had a downside, perhaps it would be the pool. The hotel only has one pool, and it is a swim spa. The pool was not busy at all, so it was nice for my kids to play in. It seems the pool was more for relaxing than playing, though. We went out of season, so I think that is why it wasn't too busy.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay an will certain stay again on our next visit to Tampa."

| A short guide to Downtown Tampa |
|
Towers and massive tourist draws dominate Tampa’s waterfront. This area includes the convention center, cruise ship terminals, St. Pete Times Forum, The Florida Aquarium, and the Channelside Bay Plaza entertainment district. Across the palm-lined Hillsborough River, University of Tampa’s Moorish architecture sits in contrast of modern downtown. Nearby, historic Ybor City is Tampa’s Latin Quarter.

| POSITIVES: Very nice hotel accommodations and service indeed. Nice exercise room (although a bit warm and humid), and a very clean but narrow lap pool. We stayed on the 15th floor of this very attractive 20 story hotel. There is a free full buffet breakfast every morning, along with omelets cooked to order. Every evening from 5:30 -7:30 PM is a complementary open bar of wine, beer, and a variety of decent mixed drinks available to all guests staying at the hotel. A very appealing view of downtown Tampa from almost any area of the hotel! The trolley system is close to the front of the hotel. It can take you all around the surrounding area for a very reasonable fee; even to historic downtown Ybor City.
NEGATIVES: All parking for guests is subject to mandatory Valet Parking at an added $20 daily expense (plus tips). That gets pricey if your stay is extended. While the dimensions of the guest rooms are indeed spacious, the kitchenette privileges in your guest room is sadly underwhelming. It consists of a small microwave and small refrigerator you would typically find in your kids' college dormatory. . If you are in search of a hotel with good cooking and refrigerator facilities in the guest rooms, forget it! Plan to eat out a lot. There is enough kitchenette space in the guest rooms for a six pack of bottled water, several bottles of wine and some cheese and crackers. |

| Upon arrival the hotel seemed nice. The longer we stayed and looked around our impression went downhill. The pool was small and crowded. There were no pool towels around as stated in the directory. The mini buffet early evening was a nice touch and held the kids over until dinner. There was loud music going on until early morning (3:00 a.m.) I went down to the front desk at 2:00 to inquire about the noise and was told this is a common complaint. The bar the music was coming from had been involved in discussions about the noise and the agreement was to shut down at 3:00 a.m. Not having a restful night is not the way I want to spend vacations - I will not stay here again or recommend it to others! |

| The room was nice and the hotel was great. The location is more for convention center traffic than just a tourist. The hotel will charge you an extra $20 per person if your reservation does not have the right number of occupancy. One problem that was handle pretty well was that the power went out for several hours because a city power generator exploded down the street. They extended happy hour and comped lots of items considering it was the city's fault. |

| Embassy Suites provided unexpected extras -- complimentary cocktail hour, wonderful cooked breakfast with best fresh orange juice ever. Rooms are truly suites with large living and working area, separate bedroom. Very clean and comfortable. Trolley just outside the door with a "ride all day" $5 ticket. Saved significantly over the fancy conference hotel across the street. Only drawback was $14.95 fee for internet access. |

| The hotel was fantastic, location great, one-ways surrounding streets a little confusing. Great selection of happy hour beverages, eats no so much. Breakfast fabulous. Staff very friendly. Thanks for the birthday cake. Wish we could have stayed longer |
