Recent Tahitian Cafe Review: "This hotel was one of the most interesting and entertaining hotels I have ever stayed at and one of my favorites. It was not perfect and might not be for everybody but I loved this place. 1st I'll go thru the bad - the back section of the hotel was newly refurbished but still an older building. Walls were on the thin side so outside noise was a little  on the high side and the water pressure could have been better. The mattresses were possibly the firmest I have ever slept on but I like a firm mattress so for me that was not a problem. The further you get from the front building the wifi gets pretty weak so if you need wifi then make sure you are in the front building or close to it. The good - the room was extremely clean and the remodeling was done very tastefully. The pool area and fitness room were quite nice and the outside tiki bar was a nice plus. The restaurant was nothing short of spectacular - I can't imagine many restaurants in all of Tampa having better food and at a very reasonable price considering the quality of the food. What really made this hotel shine though were the people (both staff and patrons). This has been a family run hotel since 1952 and I am guessing that the reason it has had such a long and successful run is that this family really knows how to treat their guests. Every hotel employee that I came into contact with would ask my first name and they all remembered it for the entire week I was there and would greet me by name every time I would see them. They really made me feel as if I were part of the family and I was sad to leave my new friends at the end of the week. The owners encourage all the employees to really get to know the guests and the owners themselves routinely hang out with the patrons. The owner's whole family were quite the interesting characters and they seem to only hire other interesting people. This hotel for some reason also seemed to attract real characters for guests as well. I travel for business quite a bit and n"
